Gifts of Real Property: Lessons Learned
Gifts of real property can present special challenges. This session will focus on two types of gifts involving real property, based on actual experience: (1) transfer of rental property to a university in exchange for a charitable gift annuity; and (2) gift of a remainder interest in the donor's personal residence and completion of the gift following the donor's death. Attendees will be taken through the process involved with each gift, the challenges encountered along the way, and the successful outcomes eventually realized. During this presentation, attendees will view these gifts and challenges from the perspective of both the gift planner and the donor. Attendees will leave with insight on how to plan for and successfully realize gifts of real property that are donor-focused and ultimately beneficial to their organizations.
