Proposals That Standout: Adding Financial Illustrations to Blended Gift Requests
Description of Presentation 1
Gifts of noncash assets are proven to be directly linked to organizational growth. So why is it still difficult to demonstrate why giving assets is a “better deal” for our donors? This session will cover blended gift proposals and how to enhance their impact by adding gift illustrations. Attendees will leave this session understanding how to articulate the financial benefits (for both the donor and nonprofit!) of giving non-cash assets versus giving cash, and combinations of both. This session will cover the process of developing gift illustrations, both with and without the use of software, and preparing donor-facing proposals. Fundraisers will be prepared to discuss gift illustrations confidently with their donors and prospects. This is a very practical session for fundraisers who are developing proposals and are regularly requesting gifts of cash and assets.

Understanding Death, A Culturally Competent Approach
Description of Presentation 3
We use many terms and euphemisms related to death in our work as gift planners – realized bequests, testamentary gifts, life estates. Yet how much do any of us really know about death preparation and celebration practices? Participants will leave this session with a deepened understanding of various practices related to one’s preparation for dying and death across cultures and religions. We’ll explore how, in our roles as fundraisers, we can use this enhanced cultural competency to improve our understanding of our donors and therefore strengthen our donor relationships.
