Privacy Policy

Effective Date: February 2019

The National Association of Charitable Gift Planners (CGP) respects the privacy of its members and other visitors to its website. CGP strongly believes that if electronic commerce and online activities are to flourish, consumers must be assured that information provided online is used responsibly and appropriately. To protect online privacy, CGP has implemented the following policy.

What Information Does CGP Collect?

Most data CGP collects are used only to help us better serve our members. It is our general policy to collect and store only personal information that our members and visitors knowingly provide. If our privacy policies change, we will notify all users by e-mail or a special announcement placed on the website.

General Users: CGP does not collect any personal information from users browsing its website. Only aggregate data -- such as the number of hits per page -- are collected. Aggregate data are only used for internal and marketing purposes and do not provide any personally identifying information.

Members, Conference Registrants, and Other Customers: To gain access to members-only resources and personalization features on the CGP Link, members and other users are asked to register and provide some limited information. This information is submitted voluntarily. CGP asks users to provide information like their name, organization name, business phone number, and e-mail. Similar information may be submitted to CGP through membership applications, conference or webinar registration, or similar orders and registrations. Additionally, for some e-mails sent in HTML format by CGP to its members through its listservs and electronic newsletters, we will collect specific information regarding what the recipient does with that email. For those emails, CGP will monitor whether a recipient subsequently clicks through to links provided in the message. Other information collected through this tracking feature includes: email address of a user, the date and time of the user's "click," a message number, name of the list from which the message was sent, tracking URL number and destination page. CGP only uses this information to enhance its products and distribution of those products to its members. This information is not sold or distributed in any other manner.

How Does CGP Use Data Collected?

CGP uses information voluntarily submitted by members and other customers in the following ways:

Member Services and Products. Generally, CGP and its direct subsidiaries use data collected to improve its own web content; to respond to visitors' interests, needs and preferences; and to develop new products and services.

Disclosures to Third Parties. CGP also makes member contact information available through the CGP Membership Directory to other members using its website and to those who register for its conferences. On rare occasion, CGP may also provide data to third parties that offer products and services. These data include names, job titles, organization, business address, and email address. Users may request CGP refrain from disclosing the data it collects to third parties by calling CGP at 317-269-6274 to express that they do not wish to have the information shared.

Credit Card Account Information. CGP does not disclose credit card account information provided by its members and customers. When members and customers choose to pay using their credit cards, CGP submits the information needed to obtain payment to the appropriate clearinghouse.

We also use cookies and collect some information passively such as the client browser type and IP address information. This information is gathered for all users to our website to track usage and provide a personalized experience.

How Does CGP Use Cookies?

Cookies are files that contain information created by a web server that can be stored on a User's hard disk for use either during a session ("per-session" cookie) or for future use ("persistent" cookie). CGP uses cookies only to facilitate automated activity, store and track passwords, determine appropriate solicitations, and review navigation patterns. Cookies are not used to disseminate significant information about Users over the Internet or to analyze any information that Users have knowingly or unknowingly provided. When a user registers, the system will ask whether the user approves of the attachment of a cookie. Users may instruct their Internet browsers to opt out of accepting a "persistent" cookie and rather accept only a "per-session" cookie but will need to login each time they visit the site to enjoy the full benefits. If the user declines the attachment of any cookie, the user may not have access to the full benefits of the website. Registration enables the site to better determine members' interest areas and provide the most relevant information.

What Privacy Issues Arise With Links To Other Sites?

This website contains links to other websites. CGP has no control over and is not responsible for the privacy policies or content of such sites.

What Means Of Redress Are Available?

If any User suspects CGP has handled its personal information in a manner that does not comply with this privacy statement, please contact us via email at mkenyon@charitablegiftplanners.org or by calling 317-269-6274.

Community Guidelines

CGP Link is a place for members of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners to learn, collaborate and share.

Welcome

The mission of CGP Link is to facilitate communication and collaboration among members of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners (CGP).  With that in mind, we have drafted community guidelines to serve as a reference point for appropriate use and member behavior.
What are some ways to participate in CGP Link?
  • Personalize your profile with pictures and information about yourself.
  • Read and comment on the materials we've provided. We are providing them to help you. Your feedback helps us make them better.
  • Share your knowledge or lessons learned that can bring value to others. We all learn more together.
  • If you don't know something, ask. It is likely several of our other members have thoughts or answers to your most pressing questions.

What are the CGP Link guidelines?

  • Be positive and appropriate. Respect people as individuals by keeping your tone positive and your comments constructive. Don't post content that is inappropriate for the workplace. Don't solicit or advertise in the community. Please don't go on rants against anyone, including US.
  • Respect confidentiality. Don't post anything that would violate any contractual agreements (copyright, trade secret or otherwise) or nondisclosure agreements to which you are a party. Make sure you don't post anything about your organization that would get you in trouble.
  • Protect privacy. Don't share anything about yourself or your organization that you would not want to see on a road-side billboard.
  • Share, share, share. We will do our best to provide valuable content. However, each of you has great expertise in different areas. The more you provide the more valuable a resource this community becomes. We welcome consultants and vendors to participate in discussions and share their knowledge and expertise. No selling, solicitation, advertisement, or promotion of products or services is permitted on CGP Link, unless contained in a paid advertisement. Consultants or vendors may use private messages in CGP Link to contact individuals to invite communication about products or services outside the community. Do not post links to sales information in profiles, resource listings or discussion forums.

We welcome your feedback and ideas

We want this to be the best community it can possibly be. Let us know what you think and how we can help improve your experience on CGP Link. If you have a topic to discuss or a question that cannot be discussed in the community, please contact membership@charitablegiftplanners.org.

Flag inappropriate content and behavior

Members may report a perceived violation of any of these guidelines by clicking here. When a report is received by CGP staff, the following action will be taken.
-    The reported content will be reviewed by staff and, if necessary, by CGP’s general counsel.
-    If necessary, the reported content will be removed from CGP Link.
-    The person who posted the content and the person who reported the content will both be notified of decisions and actions taken by CGP.
-    CGP members who repeatedly violate these usage guidelines may be banned from CGP Link for a period of time or permanently.

We hope you enjoy our community. We look forward to participating with you!
